About

Hi, my name is Adam Sweet, and I am an astrologer, musician, mystic, and lifelong lover of the night sky.

The Backstory

Astrology saved my life! Before I knew anything about it, I had a reading with a well-known astrologer at the recommendation of my wife. At the time, I was in a dark place and feeling very lost. During that reading, he said, “Adam, if you keep up your current lifestyle, by the time you are 40, if you’re not still reaching for a bottle, you will be reaching for a knife!” Somewhere in my soul, I knew this was probably true. It took me several years after that reading to get my life back on track, but that powerful prediction was always in the back of my mind, and I credit him for helping to right my sinking ship. This astrologer's ability to mirror back to me my current state and the choices that I was confronted with had a powerful impact on my life. One that I ultimately never forgot, and now hope to give back to the world through my astrology readings.

Astrology readings don’t have to be this intense, and often they aren’t. Astrology can give us insights into even the most mundane of topics. However big or small the question or topic, being witnessed by the cosmos has a profound effect and ability to help heal the human heart and psyche.

Before studying astrology, I was a professional musician, and I still am. I began playing the drums at age 8, received a bachelor’s degree in music and jazz studies from the University of Oregon, and over 30 years later, I still love playing the drums. It turned out that the same knack for patterns in the world of music would eventually translate into a deep understanding of the patterns of the cosmos.

As a child, I spent countless nights in rural Northern New Mexico staring at the night sky. Piñon smoke drifting from a nearby campfire, I remember being filled with a sense of mystery and awe. Little did I know that vast twinkling darkness was also filled with answers.

I began seriously studying astrology with Chris Brennan in his Hellenistic Astrology course. Thirsty for more knowledge and a live class environment, I began studying with Adam Elenbaas at Nightlight Astrology. Adam Elenbaas’s generous spirit and foundational approach to Hellenistic Astrology has been fundamental for me. I learned not just to memorize techniques and terms but how to truly understand astrology and the rich philosophical tapestry it emerged from. I have had many great teachers in my life, and Adam Elenbaas is at the top of that list.

I have also spent many hours of intense study in private tutoring sessions with Michelle Corbesier. Michelle was Adam Elenbaas’s main teaching assistant for over 4 years and now runs her busy practice. Michelle’s ability to move around the birth chart is unparalleled, and she taught me where to look for the best information to answer a client's hardest questions. I still study with Michelle to this day to keep my skills finely tuned.

As well as reading birth charts, I write a monthly Horoscope column for my local newspaper. ‘Jemez Mountain Horoscopes’ is my way of making astrology more accessible to my community.  I provide fun and entertaining content for people to gain personal insight about the month ahead. I have seen firsthand the power of contextualizing our world through the lens of ancient astrology. The modern times we live in are chaotic and difficult to manage. I think we need the insights, beauty, and elegance of ancient astrology now more than ever. That is why I offer ‘ancient astrology to heal the modern heart’.

More About Me

Born and raised in rural Northern New Mexico, I grew up immersed in a melting pot of cultures. From the local Zen center to annual feast days at the Pueblo, I experienced it all and am grateful to have done so. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the natural world instilled in me a deep reverence for the land and an understanding that we are not just stewards of the land but that we belong to the land itself. This is something I hold close to my heart and continues to influence my world view to this day.

Divination runs deep in my family line. My grandfather was a mystic. He read palms, tarot, and the crystal ball. I inherited his tarot deck and crystal ball, and they sit on my altar as an offering to my ancestors and as a memory to hold my skills with reverence and devotion.

My relatives on the Sweet side of the family were ‘traditional bone setters’. The Sweets lived in the Midwest and were known for their intuitive abilities to heal the body with their hands. These skills were brought with them from Europe when they immigrated to the United States in the 1700s and go back through our family line into antiquity.

Today, I carry my family's lineage forward in my own way by practicing astrology.
