June 2024
Happy Summer Solstice! We won’t be discussing that today but no Horoscope column would be complete without honoring the summit of the summer Sun. We will be focusing on Mars, who spends the next 30 days transiting through the sign of Taurus, the sign of its exile. The sign of the bull is the feminine temple of Venus and the Moon. Mars culminates in an explosive conjunction with Uranus before moving onto Gemini in Mid-July. This section of celestial real-estate is the elemental earth realm of beauty, love, and nurturing. When Mars, the incisive mission driven god of action, competition, and courage spends its summer vacation in the Garden of Eden we can all wonder what speedy change will occur in an attempt at peace and Love.
These horoscopes are specific to your rising sign. Your rising sign is the Zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. If you don’t know your rising sign you can go to astro-seek.com and look up your birth chart. Your rising sign is the sign that occupies the 1st house in your natal chart. The house listed under your rising sign is the house where the sign Taurus falls in your natal chart.
Aries — 2nd House
The myth of Sisyphus comes to mind this month. Like all Greek myths there's a lot to the story but basically as a form of punishment for his trickery of others, the gods forced him to roll an enormous boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down, repeating this action for eternity. A modern day version of this is the quote attributed to Einstein that goes, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”. The lesson is, if you want change in your life you might want to try going about it a different way. If all is groovy, then don’t touch that dial.
Taurus — 1st House
Knowing when to give yourself a reality check may be one of the most beneficial tools of adult life. New Year’s resolutions never last because they are mostly about things we think we should do but basically don’t want to. We talk ourselves into it for a brief moment once a year only to abandon it several weeks or months later. How can we actually make lasting change? Inspired action is probably your best bet but if inspired action is too slippery for you, then look to something outside of yourself worth changing for.
Gemini — 12th House
There comes a time when you’ve just had enough. You are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Usually this is called “rock bottom” but for many people these days it is just called “Monday morning”. You know the climb out of hell is going to be long, slow, and painful but it beats the continual state of suffering experienced by doing nothing at all. If these words don’t resonate with you at all, congratulations, life is supposed to be a witty and fun adventure for You.
Cancer — 11th House
With the Moon steering the helm of your ship over the bumpy seas of life, it can be hard for someone with the deep nurturing nature of the Moon to feel when the crew has turned against them. But rough seas make the best sailors and you will remember who pulled their weight when you needed them most. Just don’t be afraid to off load those sailors who didn’t help out on the last voyage when you get to your next port. Nobody needs to be lugging around dead weight on the seas of life.
Leo — 10th House
If nautical metaphors aren’t your thing let’s try this instead….“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”! Don’t worry, I’m not implying you are going to astrological hell but I am asking you to think about your current mission-driven approach to your work, career, and public reputation. A scorched earth policy will get you to the top of the mountain but when you look down you won’t see people cheering you on and praising you, you’ll see the rubble and ruin you created to get to the top. Remember to keep that lens of love mounted firmly on the high-resolution camera of life.
Virgo — 9th House
The meticulous mind of a Virgo pairs quite nicely with the razor sharp edge of a Mars transit. Maybe a little too nicely! On the other hand, the most dangerous knife is a dull one so I think you are in good astrological hands. But just because you can shave the hair off your own arm with that incisive intellect doesn’t mean all of life needs dissecting. Stay curious and your life mission is sure to manifest magic.
Libra — 8th House
Mankind has been writing love songs for as long as there has been a fire to stay up late enough to do so. The type of Venusian love found in Libra is the consequential kind that wonders if we’ll make it though another long cold winter. Having the courage to kindle that fire all through the dark days of winter may be some of the best use of this powerful Mars energy. I’m sure winter is the last thing on your mind during these dog days of summer but just remember we don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our preparation.
Scorpio — 7th House
It can feel alienating when your Scorpionic depths are not reflected in the world around you but try and remember that everyone sees the world through their own lens (including you). Not everyone is going straight to the bottom of the ocean on every topic. Just because your idea of a “good time” is a Saturday night séance doesn’t mean you can’t have fun in the sun on Sunday. Don’t be inauthentic but definitely don’t forget it takes two to dance the tango!
Sagittarius — 6th House
With Jupiter (the god of exaggeration and excess) at home in Sagittarius, the question of a lifetime may be - when is enough enough? Right now it may be harder than ever to ask yourself this question but just because it is hard doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Self honesty will take you very far in life. To quote AC/DC “It's a long road to the top (If you wanna rock ‘n’ roll)”.
Capricorn — 5th House
“The body keeps the score”, right!? So if you were to look at your metaphorical score card right now who is winning the game? Pain or pleasure? Life is truly about balance but too much in either category will leave you alienated from your own human experience. Sometimes we have to do the hard things to feel better and sometimes we have to do the easy things to feel better. The ultimate manifestation of mature Saturnian wisdom is knowing when to do what.
Aquarius — 4th House
The word ‘eccentric’ has been used to describe Aquarius since before there was a dictionary. To further the confusion even more people think that the Water Bearer is a water sign, but it is actually an air sign. The only people not confused about what it means to be an Aquarius is you, an actual Aquarian! Sometimes the purest version of love is to just let people be exactly who they are. Let’s keep Aquarius weird.
Pisces — 3rd House
Have you ever seen a toddler at a Birthday party telling everybody what to do to have fun? “You sit down, you play with this, you ride the horsey”! They honestly mean well but they don’t realize that by trying to control every element of their immediate environment they are actually making everyone’s life hell. There is an important lesson here for you as Mars muscles its way through your 3rd house. Don’t be that birthday party toddler!
